Peer
As a city grows old, what are friends for?PEER reveals the value of friendship through 68-year-old Mdm Sereena Joy Osman, one of over 87,000 seniors who live completely alone in Singapore.Projected to be a super-aged society by 2026, this slice-of-life film invites audiences into Mdm Sereena's life beyond her home and into the community that she is grateful to be a part of. From Qi Gong to bingo, pilates to Rummy-O, the seniors around her estate gather as peers in a new chapter of life.As a Senior Champion of Lions Befrienders, she channels her deep sense of gratitude into action - choosing to show up for others, and for herself.
Director's Statement
I hope that this film does justice to the power of friendship to foster bonds that transcend lived experiences and generations. At its core, it is a film that sees seniors not just as people to acknowledge, but as peers to appreciate.
